Very good product for the price

I couldn't believe this lens was under 100 dlls. I've also got one in the 55-200mm range and it's just as good as this one.
I bought it because a friend of mine dropped the camera with the original nikon on it and it broke the support. I chose it because I like a lot the other one I have. This one autofocuses just as or faster than the nikon that comes standard with the camera.
Personally I prefer this one because it feels sturdier and the finish makes it look less toy-like. It also has a metal attaching ring, not like the nikon that has thin plastic one.
Absolutely Fantastic!

This Sigma lens works spectacular with the Nikon D40X. It's a great deal for a great price. With the Nikon D40X you have to have a lens that has AF because there is no motor for it in the Nikon. This is why I purchased this lens in particular. I've been able to take some amazing close ups. I took a photo of a rose and the detail in the rose was amazing! You could see the veins in the petals with vivid detail. I would recommend this lens to anyone with a digital camera for which it fits, especially those cameras without AF motors, owned by people who would like to have (AF) auto focus and fantastic photos.
great lens for Nikon D5000 starter

IT's one of the better lens that doesnt get much prop., it works great with my D5000.
- take great picture, (little under expose indoor but D-lighting always adjust, outdoor create smooth and very soft bokeh)
- decent focus and great close up and good wide-angle shot.
- cant beat the price for this value comparing to the kit lense, save that money for the Nikon-55-200m or the Nikon 35mm 1.8 AF-S.
- Made from Japan!
Cant go wrong with this lens, oh make sure to add the Hoya HMC 58mm UV protection with the extra $ saved. only about 22$!
Great Lens, awsome price, fast shipping

If you have never owned a sigma they are every bit as good as a Nikon for all but the most demanding professional photographs. I'm sure the expert photographer can tell the difference but my dad (who teaches photography at a local college) swears they are every bit as good for a fraction of the price
Better alternative

This is a better alternative to the kit lens you get with your Nikon, this lens is better built. This lens is more durable, and it can take photos in lower light which makes it faster.

High School Senior Portraits – A DIY Guide

A good high school senior portrait is a precious memory. Back in the late seventies when I was graduating high school everyone was forced to go to the contracted studio. All the guys wore the same style tux with a ruffled shirt and bow tie. All the girls wore a simple black dress and had a single rose.

These were not senior portraits. They were mug shots.

Today's Progressive View

Today's high school senior portraits are very different. Schools maystill have a contract photographer, but many more can be casual portraits submitted for inclusion in the yearbook. You can hire a professional photographer or shoot himself. If you are inclined to read to do it themselves.

You should check with your child's school and get specific instructions for the image template. There are certain rules for the size, pose, clothing allowed, or other restrictions. Make sure some of the details before you venture out to your firePortraits.

Please speak your Kids First

The first thing you need to do is speak your college student. You may have certain shows her picture. You may wish that the formal portraits can only provide a professional studio. Many local photographer specializing in high-school senior portraits.

If your senior is willing not to let Mom or Dad to be sure the picture to discuss any aspect with them. Maybe you want a particular style of the portrait shootbut make sure they shoot their way. And portraits with her guitar, sports equipment, new car or other personal element makes for a memorable image.

Location

Look around your house and yard. You may have the perfect place for a portrait. Be sure to look for disorder in the background. Move furniture or other objects to create the perfect backdrop.

If your child has a favorite local park or garden, to go well there. Do not go in the middlethe date on which the light harsh. Light from directly above causes dark 'Raccoon eyes. Early in the morning or late in the day is better. The light casts a pleasant shade and provides a warmer more golden glow to your photos.

If lunch is your only option, you can place your child in the shade under a tree or building roof line. Change your white balance setting is to shadow or your photos turn out too blue. Be sure to keep them to the edge of light and shadow. With a simpleReflector (white foam backing plate or commercially manufactured reflector) can help fill in shadows and the colors make it pop.

Equipment

In general, a P & S camera, you get the best results. A digital SLR with a telephoto lens and external flash light will provide optimal results and give you the greatest flexibility. With a telephoto lens between 70mm and 105mm will help separate your subject from the background.

A flash will help fill in shadowswhen shooting outdoors or potentially provide all the light if shooting indoors. Bounce the light from your flash off the ceiling or side wall for softer more pleasing light. This may take some experimentation if you’ve not tried it before.

Armed with the right equipment and techniques you can produce a great portrait of your high school senior. Of course, a happy smiling face will help too.
